How does period underwear work and how to wash them?
Be Sélene is a period underwear almost like any other, except that it contains a discrete menstrual protection. We have worked with innovative textile experts to make this protection made of 3 different thin layers, one draining, one absorbent and one waterproof, which allow you to spend up to 12 hours without fear of leaking or odor (thank you).
To learn more about this great technology, visit our ‘how it works’ page.
It is an easy process. After use, rinse your panties in cold tap water until the water runs clear. Then wash it by hand or in the machine on the “gentle” program (a laundry net is better to protect the lace).
And, finally, let it air dry. Et voilà! Your undies are ready for new adventures!
Your panties are precious and fragile, so take care of them! And for this, you must follow these 6 washing instructions:
- Do not use softener or fabric softener
- Do not use soap or greasy detergent as they would rinse poorly and end up blocking the pores of the absorbent part. Choose a non-greasy soap or detergent that rinses perfectly.
- Do not use a cleaning product that could attack the fibers of the protective assembly: bleach, soda crystals, white vinegar, etc.
- Do not soak your panties
- Do not dry in the dryer
- Choose a gentle washing program only
Can I wear my period underwear all day?
Absolutely ! First few times you wear it, it is best to try it at home to understand how it works according to your flow.
Can I wear my period underwear with another menstruation protection?
Be Sélene works on its own but it is entirely possible to use it to accompany a tampon or menstrual cup, or even to add menstrual protection. Whatever feels best for you !
Are my Be Sélene period underwear safe for my body?
Yes, it is completely healthy, without silver nanoparticles and labeled STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® , certification which guarantees the absence of toxic products for the body and the environment in your panties.
The black cotton in contact with the skin is 100% made of organic cotton.
Be Sélene panties have not undergone any silver or zeolite treatment!
Where are Be Sélene period underwear made ?

How long do periods last in women's life?
Over the course of her life, a woman will have her period for 38 years on average. That’s an average of 450 menstruation cycles, for a total of 3,500 days (almost 10 years in total).
How much waste would be avoided by using Be Sélene undies?
A study run by Choice in 2016 shows that the average woman uses 10,000-12,000 disposable menstrual products in their lifetime.
Disposables products can have a big impact on landfill — every pad takes around 500-800 years to biodegrade.

Since Be Sélene undies can be used for years, they help avoid mountains of waste.
